New Money Laundering Regulations Apply To Estate Agents

On 26 June 2017 the Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017 (more commonly referred to as the Money Laundering Regulations) came into force in the UK. Under the new regulations estate agents are required to verify the identity of clients putting their homes up for sale and when making offers to buy. The information we require consists of a current signed passport Current UK or EEA photocard driving licence and a utility bill (gas, electric, satellite television, landline phone bill) issued within the last three months or local authority council tax bill for the current council tax year. These should show you name and current address.
