Staff at a Mid Wales and Shropshire estate agents are assisting with a Christmas Shoebox Appeal and urging people to help.
Morris, Marshall and Poole with Norman Lloyd’s offices throughout Powys, Ceredigion, Shropshire and Gwynedd will be taking part in the appeal organised by Helping our Homeless Wales, a registered charity based in Llandrindod Wells to help people who might be homeless or in need of support in the area this festive season.
"We as a company spend our time selling and letting houses and homes to those lucky enough to have a roof over their heads. The shoebox appeal is an opportunity for us as rental agents to help those less well off than ourselves," said Tony Evans, a partner at MMP/NL.
“We are all conscious that there are people less well off than ourselves. The Shoe Box Appeal will ensure those who are homeless or in need of support will receive a box with what some of us take for granted, such as hats, gloves, waterproofs, biscuits, tinned food and more.
“We are asking anyone who wants to take part to place items in a shoebox which they can then drop off at one of our local high street offices.”
Items that can be included in the shoe box include: toothbrush, toothpaste, shower gel, shampoo, deodorant, shaving foam, hats, gloves, scarves, belts, waterproofs, socks, underwear, packet soup, drink sachets, sweets, chocolate, porridge pots, biscuits, books, torch, batteries and pens, as examples.
No alcohol, sharp instruments or harmful substances should be included.
Boxes can be dropped off at MMP/NL’s offices at Welshpool, Newtown, Rhayader, Llanidloes, Machynlleth, Bishop’s Castle, Aberystwyth, Tywyn and Oswestry.
“We hope as many people as possible will help support this appeal so that we can assist Helping our Homeless Wales and those in need throughout the region,” added Tony
